progros hotels in a shower of stars

The Fontenay and Köhlerstube der Traube Tonbach receive first Michelin star
07.03.2019

The latest highly anticipated edition of the Guide Michelin lists a total of 261 one-star establishments. A large number of progros hotels can also be justifiably proud, with two of them even gaining their very first Michelin star. Both the “Lakeside” in the luxury hotel The Fontenay in Hamburg and the “Köhlerstube” at Hotel Traube Tonbach in Baiersbronn are now among the one-star restaurants. Congratulations from the entire progros team!

But the newly “starred” progros hotels are not the only ones in their category. “KUNO 1408” in the Best Western Premier Rebstock, the “Wilder Ritter” restaurant in Hotel Ritter Durbach, the “Yunico” in the Kameha Grand in Bonn and the “Schwarzer Hahn” in Deidesheimer Hof have been one-star restaurants within the progros family for quite some time.

Four out of ten 3-star restaurants purchase with progros

Even if the number of 3-star restaurants has seen a downward trend in the new Guide Michelin, there are still four progros hotels still the ten remaining establishments in the highest category: the “Vendôme” in the Althoff Grandhotel Schloss Bensberg, the “Überfahrt” in the Althoff Seehotel, the “Bareiss” in Hotel Bareiss and the “Schwarzwaldstube” at Hotel Traube Tonbach.

All in all, the number of restaurants in Germany with one or more Michelin stars is currently at a new record high of 309.

The Guide Michelin is a hotel and restaurant guide that awards between one and three Michelin stars to restaurants each year. Assessment criteria for Michelin stars are the consistent quality and freshness of ingredients, their professional preparation, the harmony of the combination of flavours together with the innovative and unique character of the dishes reflected in creativity and personal touch.
